Mila Rosenthal

Dr. Mila Rosenthal is an advocate and campaigner whose professional work across international human rights and human development has shaped her academic interest in the intersection of rights and development, particularly economic and social rights and climate justice. She is currently Executive Director of the International Science Reserve at the New York Academy of Sciences, where she connects scientists and scientific resources with communities to respond to global climate and health disasters. She is also the co-founder of Planet Reimagined, a start-up social venture to foster and inspire research to fight the climate crisis and deliver fair solutions for people and the planet, with the force of entertainment and mass marketing.

Previously, Dr. Rosenthal was Director of Communications and Advocacy for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She held senior positions at Concern Worldwide, HealthRight International and Amnesty International USA, overseeing work on international public health and women’s health, and running research and advocacy on international and domestic human rights abuses. Dr. Rosenthal also served on the Board of the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, tracking the human rights abuse and advances of companies around the world, and helping the vulnerable eradicate abuse. She currently serves as a Board member of the Shakespeare Forum, nourishing literacy and arts education in New York City’s poorest communities.

Dr. Rosenthal had the privilege to work in several countries in Africa, and before that in Southeast Asia, including as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cambodia. In Vietnam, the women factory workers who generously shared their lives and work with Dr Rosenthal for two years gave her the research basis for her PhD in social anthropology from the London School of Economics; and cemented her commitment to working with and on behalf of people and communities to claim their human rights.
